The Rogue Cell Podcast was just the beginning. Founded by Sean and Brad through Together With Veterans Northwest Oregon, it set out to connect rural veterans through conversation. But we quickly realized the need for something bigger—a way to reach the veterans who feel isolated, lost, or forgotten.

Battlegrounds and Backroads is a documentary dedicated to telling the untold stories of rural veterans, those facing deeper isolation, reduced access to care, and the weight of firearms integrated into their way of life. In places where resources are scarce, social fragmentation leaves too many struggling alone.
Through raw interviews, real experiences, and the voices of those left behind, we shine a light on the stakes of veteran suicide in rural Oregon. Some of the most gut-wrenching moments come from conversations with those who have lost loved ones—a Gold Star Mother whose son took his own life, a wife grieving a veteran husband lost to suicide. These are stories that demand to be heard.
This film is more than just documentation—it’s a call to action. Because no veteran should feel abandoned in the country they fought to protect.
A Travelling Investigation
We've traveled over 4,000 miles across rural Oregon to see what makes rural Oregon click and to try and ascertain why Veterans in these regions die at a higher rate from suicide.
Unexpected Benefits
Both Brad and Sean have said that this project have helped their own mental stability by providing a purpose, direction and motivation much like when they served in the military.

More than just raising awareness, this documentary is a call for change about how we look at the problem and possible solutions.
